McCormick Recalls Seasonings for Possible Contamination at Major Stores

Three popular seasonings are being named in a voluntary recall by Maryland-based McCormick over a possible salmonella contamination.

McCormick Perfect Pinch Italian Seasoning, McCormick Culinary Italian Seasoning and Frank’s RedHot Buffalo Ranch Seasoning have been pulled from major chain store shelves, according to the US FDA.

An exact list of all retailers who had stocked the three seasonings was not provided, but many Walmart and Target locations sold the seasonings. All were distributed between June 20 and July 21.

Representatives for McCormick released the following statement:

The potential risk was brought to McCormick’s attention by FDA during routine testing. McCormick has alerted customers and grocery outlets to remove the product with the affected date codes from store shelves and distribution centers immediately, and to destroy this product in a manner that would prevent any further consumption.

The affected products were shipped to 32 different US states, including Maryland, Pennsylvania and Virginia.
