(Mike Opelka) Last night, tens of thousands gathered in and around San Diego Harbor for the Big Bay Boom fireworks show. The Glorietta Bay show is billed as one of the largest in the country and was supposed to be a 17-minute, pyrotechnic spectacular scheduled to start at 9pm. It wasn’t.
Instead of seeing a choreographed, computer-controlled fireworks show synched to music, people saw less than a minute of chaos. Thanks to a glitch in the system, all of the explosives ignited at the same time.
